4.5 superb | ShadowOfTheCitadel | August 20th 21 | Beautiful record. Very much a slow burn, but the production is amazing and the atmosphere is off the wall. Ending track has been on repeat for a long, long time tonight.

4.2 excellent | Benjamin Kuettel EMERITUS | August 20th 21 | Love this, major Felt and The Durutti Column Vibes but very Toby Driver of course. Channeling his best solo work, They Are the Shield, he takes on another new identity with Alora Crucible for a truly engrossing work that emphasizes space, silence, texture, and nocturnal atmospheres. The loudness of his main bands is nowhere to be found here, existing in an abstract space of otherworldly beauty. One of the highlights of 2021. Favorite piece: "Livonomancy in Jasper."

3.7 great | Erwann S. STAFF | December 13th 21 | Strings and guitar being sad and beautiful over forty minutes. Thanks to a gripping atmosphere and a top-notch production, it's - almost - never boring.

2.5 average | Gene Gol CONTRIBUTOR | October 5th 21 | I'm all for slow burning albums, but they have to be rewarding for the patience one has with them. This one is not, for the most part.

3.0 good | ajcollins15 | September 9th 21 | Post-rock has always been a kryptonite genre for me. Many of the classics in the genre immediately put me to sleep, but the sound as a whole is growing on me as I become more and more enveloped in the nuances of it. This debut album from the Connecticut-based artist is an exploration of the post-rock sound and style of God Speed but without all the sound collage and field recording. Instead, it?s a new-age classical piece with somewhat progressive drones. Although to most this is a one-dimensional listen, there are some beautiful ideas on here. Those ideas might not be flushed out fully, this is still decent listen if you want some light yet vast music that puts you in the headspace of the distant past.
