Horizons / East sounds like the spiritual continuation of Beggars. They really put the effort this time. Eddie and Riley going ham, Dustin bringing his A game vocally and Teppei appearing throughout with many intricacies (guitar and keyboard wise). A very consistent album that drops the more streamlined sound they adopted with Major/Minor.

Simply the best record they've done since Beggars. Thrice is back to being one of the most consistently-creative bands out there, with the whole band firing on all cylinders HARD.

Thrice have demonstrated once again that having their own studio space to experiment and branch out (without the creative input of an outside producer) is where they thrive. Horizons/East at its most inventive moments is unlike anything else being made right now, and make for sublime listening. The album is weighed down by some of the more conventional elements they sometimes lean on (namely the more power chord-driven singles) but the great far outweighs the tame. The production and mixing is on point; this is the best-sounding record they've released. The diversity of their palette, tones familiar and new, is on full display, and it makes for a breathtaking experience.

This was really unexpected; I think this is the most layered, subtly nuanced approach to songs
I've seen Thrice take. I abhorred the first two listens as the songs just fell flat, bland and
uninteresting (was thinking of dropping around 2.5), but after the first two listens myriads of
minute details came into picture and made the experience so much better. This is not as immediate
as the other two post-hiatus Thrice albums, and now I see that's quite a good thing.

Probably the best Thrice has sounded in years, and this is coming from someone who only really only likes one classic Thrice album. On the eleventh album for the California band, they continue down their post-hardcore and alternative rock roots with obvious post-grunge elements thrown in from time to time. But the execution and playing are all top-notch all over the record. Plus the melodies and instrumentals are way more catchy than I would have ever imagined for a group doing it as long as they have.
