3.5 great | I was living in constant fear of someone neg bombing all my reviews cause I know how many detest me | January 20th 22 | Entombed gone prog/tech. Instead of Edge of Sanity's penchant for grandeur and epicness, this has far more in common with Carbonized, Crypt of Kerberos, Crystal Age and perhaps at times even a little bit of Canadian bands like Obliveon and mid-90s era Kataklysm. The Sunlight Studios production job, fat guitar tone, groovy riffs and LG Petrov style growl shout (RIP) are unmistakable, yet most remarkable is how naturally Afflicted combine this with melodic passages, excellent basslines, off-kilter swings, angular riffs and all manner of technical fills and frenzies.

4.0 excellent | Jotun35 | August 7th 09 | An unusual album ! This could be the spiritual offspring of Atheist and Entombed, the (not so) perfect mix between the experimentations of floridian death metal and the dirtiness of swedish death metal.
But this album have some flaws. First, vocals are sometimes pretty annoying and don't sound "professionnal". Second, there is a lot of cool and original ideas in this albums, but they are not always used efficiently and it leaves you with a "good ideas but messy song" bitter taste.
So, for me it's a 4 (if you like good ol' swedish death) or 3.5 album.
