'Oh so disappointing' - that's a common phrase that I've read from Killing The Dream fans in a number of places around the internet regarding the hardcore band's 2010 release, Lucky Me. However, the change of direction that the band has taken itself here, slowing shit down and looking out for more melodic corners, isn't exactly a bad decision: it's just that they go about it all wrong. More slowed-down sections for purer lyrical clarity? Try sheer boredom and plodding instrumentals. More catchy, fist-raising moments for the more melodic bits? Try cheesy and, to be honest, a lack of good melody. So yes - 'oh so disappointing', but Killing The Dream can pull this thing off better next time, hopefully at least.
