There is undoubtedly something missing from Rammstein's most recent offering, Rosenrot. Unfortuantely for the band's music, that something is hard to put a finger on. That might be due to the band's consistency. Rammstein has released four pretty solid records prior to this one, while still remaining catchy yet true to their sound. Maybe their classic sound has finally worn off by round five, and as a result we get displays like "Te Quiero Puta!" as a desperate attempt at something different. In the end this may not be the stellar release fans were hoping for, but there are still a decent number of tracks that are worthy of a few listens. The slower and softer "Spring" and "Stirb Nicht Vor Mir" (respectively) are nice additions to the album, while the first single "Benzin" is semi-hard driving and alright for a couple plays. There are more misses here than hits, so its easy to see where the criticism comes from, but it's still a fun listen at least one time through.

I was personally offended with this album when I bought it straight after release. I had the mind to smash it into a dozen peices and mail it all back to the Steiners. But then I figured...you might as well listen to it a few times before you smash it with a hammer. And while its certainly their worst album in my opinion, I've come to really love some of the tracks on it. Benzin, Mann Gegen Mann, Rosenrot and Zerstören are fantastic. The rest is nice flowing backgroud music for Chemistry homework.

We have to be agreed on this one: Rammstein never released an awful record. General discussions shows that Rosenrot was Rammstein weakest record. They say it's incomplete and band's decision that not to tour after this one proves that there is something wrong with Rosenrot. I disagree. Even if their all albums were 5 star classics there has to be one album that ranked below. For me, it's Rosenrot or Herzeleid. But that two albums are definitely stone cold records.

I recently read the Allmusic Guide's review of Rosenrot and I have to say I agree completly. For the majority of the album there are some very good songs and one of Rammstein's greatest (Te Quiro Puta!) but an excellent album is brought down by some terrible filler, namely the last two songs.

Quite possibly redeemed Rammstein after the release of Reise Reise. Rammstein became a little softer with the release of Reise Reise, making fans forget what was so great about them...but Rammstein took things back a couple steps with Rosenrot and showed they can are still heavy and reitirated what they are all about.
