Lana is creating symphonic horror with lovely undertones, an intentional decision. She tells a modern tale through veteran eyes. Just don't expect to understand the tale cause the words are indecipherable, more infliction to the modern era. You're floating through a haunted house with Lana Del Rey, one in which she knows every nook and cranny and is mischievous in revealing them to you. You pit-pat your way through track splicings like slipping through holes slimmer than the fabric you're ravishingly cloaked in, and the event happens with harmonious fashion. One can't skillfully pinpoint if the songs convey emotion of sadness or happiness, they're simply ambiguous - more distance. Still one can be solely sure the resultant here is an immaculate one. All creations are unique no matter what some are attributing it to. Lana presents dynamics that shifts ear weight like forces of propulsion. And while she tries her best to be awful in every sense of the word it couldn't have had a more direct opposite effect.

I can listen to NFR! and, aside from 2-3 tracks, be immediately be sucked into the delicate beauty of the album. This, however, feels universes apart, and I struggle to care about any individual song, verse, or chorus. I understand that Blue Banisters and 'Chemtrails are more in line with her traditional artistic style, but they just don't hold water against even some of the lesser tracks on NFR!.

When ?Norman Fucking Rockwell? was first released it felt like a true turning of the page for Lana, sonically. It was dense, rich, and focused. Nothing could keep you from not feeling emotional when listening to that record. Now with her second release this year we continue to see that Lana is trying to achieve the same thing, but with no success. Much of this record, as the last one felt, is a bumbling of ideas and lyrics that don?t really add up. I think Lana needs to distance herself from this style and find something fresh.

Beautiful vocals and production almost compensating for lackluster songwriting: the album - wait wtf are these sickass trap beats in the interlude? They don't fit but they go hard tbh. Gotta say some tracks are really nice ("Black Bathing Suit", "If You Lie Down Next to Me", "Dealer", "Wildflower Wildfire", "Living Legend"), shame they are accompanied by blandass soft rock tunes. The best 2021 Lana del Rey album. Edit: the blandass soft rock tunes are still blandass, but the best tracks are real good stuff.
