2.4 average | Erwann S. STAFF | July 30th 21 | I guess the goal was to create a more "low-key" soundscape to match the darker lyrical content. Damn shame the low-key/bland border was crossed. Of course this is not blatantly bad; the production is subtle yet rich in elements, there are a couple of cool influences (the bossa tune is cute), and some tracks - singles that were available a year ago - are aight. The thing is, it's so subdued that you've got to connect to the lyrics to enjoy this on some level. As a non-lyrics motherfucker, this will remain a collection of dull, not unpleasant but ultimately forgettable tracks. The few times the music does seem to finally emancipate itself from the weight of the lyrical content - eg that big explosion at the end of the t/t -, it does work, but these moments remain exceptions.

2.5 average | BlondeGuardian | July 31st 21 | This is more like edgy alternative muzak than it is like someone's passionate artistic expression. I'm still not sure if Billie Eilish has strong emotions about anything.

0.0 | PrincyAli | July 30th 21 | Though not as sonically dark as her debut, this is definitely showing a more mature Billie. 4.1/5 Favs: Getting Older, I Didn't Change My Number, Billie Bossa Nova, my future, Oxytocin, GOLDWING, Lost Cause, Halley's Comet, OverHeated, Your Power, Therefore I Am, Happier Than Ever, Male Fantasy

2.5 average | lz41 | July 30th 21 | I am not comfortable with people this much younger than me being this horny and angry.
EDIT: Without expanding on the sound and style of her debut album, Eilish has created a
defiant response to her fame, particularly the scrutiny and sexualisation she has faced
in the media. Is the low energy 56-minute album, which only delivers the previously
released 'Therefore I Am' and 'NDA' in the way of irresistible bops, a struggle to sit
through?
Yeah, it is. Best Songs: 'Therefore I Am', 'NDA', 'Oxytocin', 'Your Power'

2.5 average | pizzamachine | August 24th 22 | This one is very boring, the singing is lazy, the melodies are lazy, the choruses are lazy, the beats are lazy, the verses are lazy. Lazy album in conclusion that borrows ideas from every pop artist ever but makes it exceedingly boring and lazy while adding nothing original or interesting aside from Oxytocin.

3.0 good | Bedex | June 28th 22 | As per dede's soundoff, the main fault here is the number of softspoken ballads. While it is a type of track I often find inherently dull, her vocal delivery and the prod subtleties often make them surprisingly nice. The issue is the sheer number of them, and their place in an already very softspoken album. 1's ok because it is the intro, 4 starts off like a ballad but develops a beat and funky guitar touches etc and so works super well, but then the soft elvish choral 6 is very forgettable, 8 is not saved by its soft beat, 9-10 have interesting prods but again are too calm though 10 is better, 11 is yet another ballad, 12 is at least a pretty guitar-based ballad, 15 starts as a ballad but its fuzzy explosion saves it from being an altogether boring track, and 16 is again a ballad. I feel like the fact that the prod on the other tracks is so often compressed, soft spoken, almost whispery, sometimes to a fault (eg 7 which would otherwise be pretty nice and groovy, or 8 before its dreamy conclusion) doesn't help contrast wiht the ballads. The two tracks of more past Billie (5 and 13) kind of stick out, but 5 is alright enough and 13 is quite cool with its noisy ideas. Really for me the album's main successes lie in the more engaged yet subdued tracks where Billie sings with a much louder and more open voice, i.e. 2 with its interesting prod ideas, the relaxed 3 despite the fadeout, and 14. 2.8

3.0 good | TheGreatEscaper | December 21st 21 | The up-tempo stuff on this is all great, but unfortunately the album is slightly lethargic overall and the slower stuff doesn't really stick, for me. Still, some tracks like GOLDWING are so compelling that I can't help but come back to this every now and then.

1.0 awful | Trv Ratings Inc. | November 11th 21 | holy shit at least as a teenager she had a personality. i think she's actually on this what she only pretended to be on debut, someone give her a hug. this is what happens when you name your child pirate

3.0 good | charlopiano | August 21st 21 | I didn't love Eilish's previous album, because it was too inbedded in the "I'm a quirky and edgy teenager" schtick, and this one is definitely a lot better written, I really like the opener and the title track, which show some great songwriting from her, but the production is a lot more minimal compared to the previous record, which works for certain tracks, but not for most, and ends up dragging a little.

3.5 great | SalteyBacon | August 6th 21 | Well, I know you can't downvote me with three beers deep so this is so easy to state this is a much needed collaboration with Björk and it needs to happen NOW. Can't wait to see what else will come from her.

4.0 excellent | TheJunkhead | August 3rd 21 | Never really been a fan of Billie Eilish besides a couple songs in her discography. Actually hated her last album.
Not sure why it got so much praise from everyone, but I guess most of it was better than any i random pop song.
But anyways, this album is actually really good. I was kind of turned off to it by her first single ?Therefore I am?.
Wasn?t a great song to me besides the cool bass line, but almost the rest of this album is nothing like that. Very
laid back, great, more complex beats than the usual Billie song, and most of it is very catchy. Not to mention, the
lyrics are much more thought out and introspective in this album. She seems like she and her brother put a lot of
work into this, and I just like the overall vibe. If you havent liked Billie?s previous work, listen to this one. You
might be pleasantly surprised. This record has been in my rotation since the day it came out.

4.5 superb | Lucman | August 1st 21 | This is one of the most stunning yet equally unnerving pop albums I've heard in a long time. It's such an interesting and refreshing character study of who one can become when met with failures from oneself, the music industry and celebrity fame, and other lovers. If I could liken it to a film it'd be Mulholland Drive.
