Much like Be Not Nobody, Vanessa Carlton's album mostly relys on it's singles and the fame of the last album to back it up but that doesn't mean I hate it. Heck No, I do think that the non singles are better than the last album because it has more melodies.

This album really flows nicely. Even if you aren't a fan of pop music i think you will respect the musicianship. There is a variety of classical instruments and piano leads that carry harmonizing female vocals. One of the few cds i can listen to all the way through without getting bored easily.

Everything about this album has me truly captivated: the way Vanessa's voice shifts around across the album to give each song a distinct feel; the way that Vanessa pours her soul out through her voice with every song; the way Vanessa plays her piano as not just a vehicle for her voice, but rather as an integral part of her music; the way each song on the album is unique, yet all the while contributing to the wholeness of the album. This album is truly a different kind of pop; it's even a different kind of Vanessa Carlton. In fact, had it not been for Vanessa's distinct voice, the difference between this album and Be Not Nobody is so great that you could almost convince yourself that the two albums were constructed by two different people. Harmonium receives far less praise than its predecessor, but yet it surpasses it in every way possible.
