You'd think Metallica and some orchestra would be pretty stupid, or at least that is what my 5th grader self thought, but it's actually pretty badass.

A bit of a mixed bag. One one hand, the fact that many songs are tuned a half step down from their original recordings irks the hell out of me because I'm weird like that, James' voice is a bit weak, and because it was the late '90s, there are a lot of Load/Reload songs on here. But the two new songs are both very good, and many songs sound pretty effective with symphonic backing, especially The Call of Ktulu.

What better to have than a classic metal band combined with a symphony orchestra? Someone thought it up, and here it is. This is a breathtaking concert, with Metallica combining their classic guitar riffs and solos with the San Fransisco Symphony. S&M (Symphony&Metallica) never lets up on the beauty, especially on songs like Nothing Else Matters or One. This is a must-have for fans of anything.

Almost every song here trumps the original version, No Leaf Clover is probably Metallica's best song, and Minus Human is criminally underrated. And it comes to be that the soothing light at the end of your tunnel was just a freight train comin' your way...

Would've been better if the setlist wasn't dominated by Load/Reload songs. "Of Wolf & Man", "The Call of Ktulu", "The Thing That Should Not Be", "Master Of Puppets", "No Leaf Clover", "One", and "Battery" are really the only ones worth checking out.

A perfect album. The Orcastra played along with metallica perfectly and the end result is every song sounding amazing. why this isnt a 5, because i wish they wouldve chose the song "fade to black" it wouldve been amazing. and "One" sounds like it was recorded in the audience so you can't hear the orcastra and barely hear metallica. But other than that great album

The concert Metallica did was so uniquely done! How often do you hear a metal band perform with an orchestra?
Metallica sure knows how to pick the songs! It also includes two unreleased tracks that are decent to listen to!

No matter what anybody told me about how awesome and genre-defining Metallica's early work was, there's one thing that always spoilt nearly everything from the Master of Puppets era for me - James Hetfield simply could not sing. What was a mediocre production in the first place was ruined by the grating sound of Hetfield's terrible voice.
This is one reason why this album is so good. Hetfield has improved vastly, and belts out the classics with a powerful voice and unique style. The symphonic parts are usually nothing short of stunning, especially on such seminal tracks as One and Nothing Else Matters. The selection of songs is pretty good, but less songs from Reload would have been appreciated by yours truly, since that was never among my favourite Metallica albums. The two new songs kick ass too.

Only the greatest idea Metallica ever had!!!!!! Pretty much my favourite Metallica album ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I don't need to explain why. It is an expensive album, but worth every penny nonetheless. I encourage every Metallica lover to buy it if not already done so.

What can i say...this album is excellent. It is one of the most harmonised and well put together concerts i have ever seen.
It is an idea that has never been put into play. A heavy metal band, the best in the world, playing in toe with an orchestra was unheard of, especially with songs as heavy as metallica's.
The orchestra goes superbly with all of the songs, especially with nothing else matters as it is a softer song. It seemed as though the band were just having a great time. I have th dvd and it is my favourite, when im bored thats what i put on.
Who would of thought that the world greatest heavy metal band would go so well with a symphony orchestra. Top job fellas. Well done.
