I understand where people are coming from in not giving this an overly high rating. However, once you see this band live it gives you a completely different perception of how talented they really are. Musically they are extremely tight in performance and the vocals are just plain amazing. I still think this album falters in some areas and drags a little bit, but if they were to record a live dvd of it I think everyone would have a new-found appreciation for "Son of the Morning".

Oh Sleeper aims high with their lofty concept but fall flat on their faces in terms of execution. No amount of technical prowess and catchy moments seem capable to save 'Son of the Morning' from amassing to nothing more than a completely forgettable metalcore release.

I love it. everything is great on this album from the lyrics to the breakdowns, which in my opinion are pretty simple but brutal, a huge step up from When I Am God

When I listened to When I Am God I felt that Oh Sleeper had me fairly engaged, though
I still found it a very hashed attempt at a metalcore release. Son Of The Morning, is
well... just a woeful try at being different to the usual, and it fails miserably and lacks
the punch that When I Am God was able to include with a few of its tracks.

This is probably one of the very best songs I have heard in a long time. Sounds like Oh Sleeper are going to move on
to very big things as this is better than anything that I've heard from them and they are by no means a shit band
This. Is. Class.
Also, having heard the other new songs, I cannot wait for this album to come out - sounds like epic wins all round.

I think this album improves on When I am God not by adding more to the formula, but by actually detracting some from it. When I am God, while still being a great album, was very chaotic, and Oh, Sleeper took some of the chaos out to give the songs more form and discernable patterns, and manages to keep me interested much more than WIAG did. This is definitely one of my favorite metalcore albums, possibly second only to Constellations
