3.5 great | Herbie Chrost | May 14th 21 | Sput being misogynistic?! Noooo. It's a white artsy singer goes soul, so it has to be a Bowie ripoff! Totally doesn't just literally sound like Masseduction but with soul pastiches instead of new wave pastiches

EMERITUS | May 16th 21 | Daddy's Home is a 2015 American comedy film directed by Sean Anders and written by Anders, Brian Burns, and John Morris.[4] The film is about a mild-mannered stepfather (Will Ferrell) who vies for the attention of his wife's (Linda Cardellini) children when their biological father (Mark Wahlberg) returns.

1.0 awful | ajcollins15 | May 20th 21 | I actually started screaming when I first heard this new album from one of the longest-running pop artists of the last two decades. Annie diverges from her usual art-pop and synthpop origins and leanings to take a heavy influence from the greatest artists in the ?60s, the ?70s, and ?80s. With such a rich catalog to use and explore she took her best advantage by grabbing influences from all over the spectrum and it shows. However, what made me scream is why the hell did she use such a rich and phenomenal era of music(s) and basically use it as a copycat of Father John Misty. Don?t get me wrong I absolutely love what Father John Misty has done and continues to do since his departure of Fleet Foxes. But almost all these songs feel ripped out of ?I Love You, Honeybear?, ?Pure Comedy?, and ?God?s Favorite Customer?. Even the satirical lyrics feel completely copied over. Not only is it extremely distracting, but it completely leaves me flabbergasted on why people are praising the record. I would honestly say this is almost as bad as what Greta Van Fleet did with their debut album with plagiarism.

4.0 excellent | charlopiano | May 20th 21 | This was my entry point into Clark's work and I was very impressed. First of all, she's a fantastic lyricist and executes the concept of the album amazingly. I also found that she's a very interesting composer. Her songs are really original, so I see a very big potential in her music, so I feel like it's fairly possible that her other works amaze me even more.

3.3 great | Erwann S. STAFF | May 18th 21 | At times profoundly gorgeous - "Live In the Dream" and its mushroom-full psychedelism, "Down"'s funkiness, or cosmic dream banger "Somebody Like Me" -, at times borderline obnoxious (the opener), at times lost in underwhelmance, Daddy's Home is no paragon of consistency, but simply delivers more good than bad stuff. Simple as that.

Americans era Bowie has never listened to Young
Americans era Bowie. That said I'm not blown away by
this on first listen, but I'm sure it'll grow.

3.5 great | mvdu | May 15th 21 | I really enjoy her more soulful entries here. It is when she is more her usual self that sometimes the songs sound like inferior versions of past work.

3.8 excellent | Dakota West Foss STAFF | May 14th 21 | While at times out of its depth, Daddy's Home is a bold entry into St. Vincent's discography choosing to accentuate grooves with warm, psychedelic atmospherics than guitar heroism and futuristic electronics on past entries. There will be time for her to push her own sound further in the future, but it's nice to see her take a step back and let her songs breathe and run their own course.
