This confirms my theory that you can make nu metal incredibly gay if you wanted to. I can't accurately judge this as an
electronic record, but as a metalhead the closest comparisons I can give to this album are Pantera's The Great Southern
Trendkill and Slipknot's Iowa. Albums that sound like they're on the edge of self implosion and all that's left to do is scream
in agony. But unlike those bands, Black Dresses weren't platinum selling artists absorbed in reckless drug abuse. Those
bands still managed to move on with other albums. Black Dresses don't have those resources, and therefore could not
escape the wreckage. It's just them. This is the rare album that's so extreme it very well killed the band.

In retro-spec this is one of those albums that feels like it should be better but in reality, there is too much inconsistency to make this album truly great. Take the track ?Tiny Ball? and interesting minimal/raw demo cut but compared to the rest of the album it completely throws out what the first four tracks build up to be. Take another track ?Waiting42moro? but is another alternative rock and electro-industrial clash which sounds like it should be good, but the track comes off so awkward. What I am getting at is that there are some truly great cuts on this record, but the worst tracks on here derail the whole listening experience quickly and it takes some time for the pleasure of the album to come back. In general, this album has all the parts to be great but misses the mark several times or loses itself in the process.

A few questions: What? Why do I smell so bad? How did they make that one weird noise on that one song? Who
gave them the right? Is this a good time to take out a life insurance policy? What?

"Pussy like a bulldozer...like a blown out speaker." 10/10 lyrical writing paired with 10/10 cover art. Probably the best thing I've heard from Black Dresses yet even though I wish the vocals were a bit stronger at times as they can come off as lazy in tracks like Heaven and Tiny Ball. The first 3 tracks, Zero Ultra, (Can't) Keep It Together and We'll Figure It Out are especially good and then there's a tiny fall-off from there, but overall it's definitely one of the strongest albums I've heard in 2021 so far.
