What strikes me most about this record is how fucking mean it is. Jump cuts in the first track because fuck you. Songs that rstop, start, or even end without warning to the point of making the track list irrelevant. Vocals that wheeze in pain without rany attempt at coherence. And it's all topped off by an ass-numbingly long closing track whose droning nature would ralmost be soothing if the band didn't make it clear that they'll unleash hell at a moment's notice. Altarage takes their wall-rof-sound approach and make it personal, as if the songwriting choices were made to personally spite you. There's no use rin figuring out the logic behind this album. You're in their domain now, all that's left to do is to succumb

i was gonna be charitable and rate this a 3 for some interesting ideas here and there, but then that slog of a last track had to go and waste my fucking time

Their best so far, but still fairly by-the-numbers and doesn't rise to the heights of the top tier stuff like Ulcerate or Ad Nauseam in the dissonant death metal camp.

first listen this was a 2 then i turned down the volume and saw it had a song called "drainage mechanism" and it became a 3.5

Massive fan of the style these guys put out, but some of the mixing choices and that M A S S I V E ending track just make this an interesting listen, but one that overstays it's welcome.

With this album Altarage raised themselves to the top of cavernous death metal. A chaotic, gloomy stuff that requires the listener to fully concentrate.
