The screaming vocals, aggressive performances, and clear mixing make this more than just an average guilty pleasure. Even with the cliched lyrics.

Compared to "This is where the fight begins" this is quiet overproduced. The first record
thrives on the raw aggression and the fucked up vocals. "New hopes, new demonstrations" can't
live up to that. Don't get me wrong: musically this is definitely richer than the first
record, but some bands don't need this melody-, interlude- and singing-shit. The Ghost of a
Thousand is one of them. In the end "New Hopes" is more varied than "This is..." but it's
polished to the mark of generic HC.
