3.0 good | Toondude | April 17th 21 | it's still by the numbers dad rock that heavily relies on the nostalgia factor...but unlike before, there seems to be some actual creativity in the music, and I'm not gonna lie, it's really not all bad.

2.0 poor | judasgoat | April 19th 21 | Good news, they don't sound dead up like Led Zeppelin anymore. Bad news is that they are still so far submerged in 60's/70's classic rock tropes that they just don't have their own identity. Having more ballads and longer songs doesn't really cover this up, either, especially when your singer still belts at practically the same volume regardless of what kind of song it is.
But they're not ripping off Led Zeppelin anymore!

3.0 good | Brabiz | March 27th 21 | Yeah, it?s surprisingly very good. Sterile and derivative in some spots, though less-so than previously, it?s oddly rcharming and full of ear worm moments. The focus on airy, dream-like soundscapes and organ arrangements are ra welcome change up, and makes this feel more like a love letter to 70?s rock, rather than a shameless cloning of rLed Zeppelin motifs. In a lot of ways this pulls from prog titans like Rush and some AOR elements which i didn?t rexpect. In spite of Zeppelin comparisons creeping up on cuts like My Way Soon, and the No Quarter-esque Age rof Machine, this manages to feel like a band coming into their own and i?m very much eager to hear where they rgo next.

3.5 great | Mitch | April 18th 21 | Definitely a bit too long, but an solid throwback rock album. These guys aren't the musical disease that so many mouth breathers claim they are.

3.2 good | manosg EMERITUS | April 18th 21 | This is pretty good, to the point where the songwriting and overall atmosphere make up for the comic vocals. Actually, as long as I don't see these guys perform, I really enjoy their music. Kudos to them for living their dream.

3.5 great | Antonius | May 7th 23 | The most important in GvF's sophomore release is that they realized they need to find their own path. In contrast to the EPs and the debut, The Battle at Garden's Gate showcases a band that keeps the basic characteristics of its rock heroes and tries to craft its own music without crossing the imitation line. Setting aside Josh Kiszka's Geddy Lee/Robert Plant impersonations, the listener can enjoy a great album of technically proficient songwriting and wonderful musicianship. The classic rock vibe across the entire record in combination with the fluid and dynamic instrumentals, puts the band on the right path and prepares them for the next level. Recommendations: "Built by Nations", "Broken Bells", "Heat Above".

2.0 poor | GarthAlgar | April 19th 21 | The least sounding Zeppelin stuff they've made, and some quality songs on here. Way too long, but still some good stuff here and there.
