Karnivool is like a more accessible, melodic hybrid version of Tool and Meshuggah... and everything great you can think of from any other band. Simply everything about this album is flawless. Beautiful memorable melodies, crazy odd rhythms, tasteful drum grooves and fills, wicked standout basslines, nice use of detuned heavy and soft guitars with nice chords and harmonies as well as nice effects and ambient noise. Not too heavy, not too soft. Not too linear, not too progressive. This music is sooo easy to like. Your mum and dad would like this and your death metal buddies would like it. This album is just beautiful from start to finish. One of my very favourite albums of all time. This band knows how to make their music unique and stand out but without over-doing it. I could go on all day about this, but this really is a must buy album. If their next album is half as good as this I will still love it.

A nu-metal album that uses well executed post-rock & prog rock instrumentation and a nonabrasive frontman. Compared to a lot of nu-metal I've been listening to recently, I re-evalued this album's rating as a definite in the 4-spectrum.

Karnivool are just one of those bands that you hear that can make your jaw drop. I knew I liked them pretty much straight after hearing the title track. Album is basically flawless, no weak tracks.

Dear Lord, I think I am in love. Karnivool, one of the many progressive bands that Australia has been dumping out lately, have really crafted something else here. Themata is all one could ask for in a alternative prog album. The vocals are amazing and all the instruments fall into place perfectly. It's already astonishing Karnivool was able to pull it off so excellently, but on their debut? Inconceivable. Well, until now of course.

An Australian band with the mostest. These guys will rock your socks off with the ability to have intricate time signitures, cacthy choruses and amazing riffs. One of the most prominent bands in Australia at the moment and are dominating the prog rock scene along with COG and The Butterfly Effect.
