Problem: Have made two respectable, catchy, well-produced and very energetic pop-punk records with a rock edge.
Solution: Make a third that completely drains all life and energy out of the music that made you popular to begin with.

Underrated, Billy Talent at their most mournful but also gritty. To me the hate this receives makes no sense at all. Perhaps less immediate than BT2, but whenever someone says that III lacks energy I wonder if they're listening to the right album.

Billy Talent took it back another notch, trimming screaming almost completely out of the album. Lead singer Ben said 'I'm getting to old to scream' or something to that effect in a interview with MuchMusic. For some I'm sure it takes away from what they want out of Billy Talent but for me theyre still the same band from 2006 with II.
The album opens up with Devil on My Shoulder, which is the 3rd single off the album, following in the steps of Turn Your Back and Rusted from The Rain. The song has meaty guitar riffs with enough distortion to sastisfy. And the song gets close to screaming, old fans rejoice.
Tracks 1 through 6 are all exceptional, some of their best work. Though, The Dead Can't Testify, and Diamond on a Landmine are only OK tracks in my opinion. Ones that you would usually skip over. Turn Your Back, the first single from the album is a great song, and check out the remix with Anti-Flag (not on the album) The last two songs, Sudden Movements and Definition of Destiny are both worth listening to. Though the first 6 tracks are still the best tracks off of this disc.
Now to the hardware portion. In the Juno category, they recieved 3 nominations, and took home the award for Rock album of the Year. In the MMVA's they recieved 4 nominations, and took home International Video of the Year by a Canadian, Director of the Year and MUCHLOUD Rock Video of The Year. As for the charts, this album did not do as well as II did. It topped the Canadian charts but was only No.2 this time in Germany. The album was not noticed in the U.S for the second time.
The Verdict: Less popular, and still not much success in the states, but this album is still extremely good.

Unlike the first 2 albums, it lacks alot of the energy that made Billy Talent...Billy Talent. So at first listen I wasnt a huge fan it had some tunes but it seemed to lack something. However I would periodically come back for those songs that I enjoyed and as the album played through I would get more into it and I saw that there is actually quite alot in this album to like. It is definetly a slower paced work but where it shines it shines very well.
Im glad too, I wouldnt want to lose BT as a band, and I'll hope for good stuff from their 4th album.

For God sakes, pop punk is good. punk is great. punk attempting to be mainstream falls into neither of these categories, and sucks the life out of the genre in the process. bleh

This third installment of the Billy Talent OG trilogy lightly dials down on the intensity that made their first two albums so successful. Glit replaced the grit, and while it mostly works ("White Sparrows" is a banger, like most of the first half), it doesn't touch their first two records.

devil 3; rain 3; veronika 3.5 punky poignancy; wine 2.5 could have been good but too many awkward lines bring it down a lot; sparrows been procrastinating this album because of this song ffs 4; dreams 2.5 another let downer that should have been good but fails this time bc of just not having the overall riffs; dead good baseline but thats about it still somehow scrapes 2.5; diamond it shouldnt be more than an overall 3 but the chorus hits just right so 3.5; turn total filler track 2; movements even worse filler song 1.5; destiny a final one of those almost good tracks that has a good hook surrounded by a whole lot of filler 2.5

Feels a bit less aggressive in comparison to Billy Talent 2, does contain good and memorable songs like Saint Veronika and Devil on my Shoulder tho. My least favourite Billy Talent record but by no means horrible

I don't understand the hate for BTIII. Sure, it's probably their least consistent record, but when this gets it right, it really gets it right. The one thing consistent throughout the whole record is Ian D'sa's guitar playing, there are some really inventive riffs, and the kind of chords you'd normally hear in jazz; it's been said before, but Ian really does the job of two guitar players in Billy Talent. If you look at the tabs the band released alongside this record, you can see how interesting and unique some of things Ian and Jon Gallant (bass), play here. Also the vocal harmonies are impeccable; my favourite one is Saint Veronika, when Ian joins in on "Always said her life...", the whole thing soars.rOf course there are some clunkers, but the only song I really dislike is Sudden Movements. Devil On My Shoulder, Saint Veronika and the haunting White Sparrows are the best tracks, but most of the album is pretty solid, just standard fare for Billy Talent at this point, and certainly a cut above the majority of sub-par pop punk out there.rSo yeah, the vocals and guitar work are amazing, the bass and drums are solid, and the songwriting is a bit hit or miss.

A pretty dissapointing album. With some exceptions ("Pocketful Of Dreams", "Rusted From The Rain" and "Worker Bees"), this lacks a lot of the elements that made Billy Talent 1+2 so great.

Billy Talent's latest release, is also their worst. Going for a more mainstream sound. Softer guitars, louder bass and sub-par lyrics make this album a sleeper. Sudden Movements is easily the worst song they have ever written and made. Yet some of their best songs are on here (though they are both b-sides), Don't Need to Pretend and Bloody Nails + Broken Hearts.

I checked this album out, because of how much I liked their first two when I was younger. Before I gave Billy Talent III a listen, I was hoping it would renew my enjoyment of BT. A few songs were alright, but overall, the album was disappointing. I played out like their first two albums thrown together and put through some kind of radio friendly converter.

I did enjoy this album, even if it isn't quite the feat that I and II were. There's less catchy songs here than in the other two, and you'd be forgiven for listening through the whole thing without being able sing any back. 'Saint Veronika' and 'White Sparrows' are where I think this peaks, but the guitar can become a little repetitive in parts, and there's far less diversity than its predecessors. Still, it's a solid album.

there is not even one filler .. !!!!!! i used to skip 2-3 songs from their first album .. BLII was a masterpiece ... BLIII is even better than BLII .. i had huge expectations .. thank god they didnt disappoint me

i listened to this album the first time and wasn't impressed, but during the second listen the songs have started to grow on me. this album is decent, but its not as good as Billy Talent, Or Billy Talent II. i guess its because of the new producer.
