The fun debut LP by electro indie-poppers Passion Pit could well be the happiest, most euphoric album of all time! It's impossible to stay still during the catchy 'Little Secrets' & 'The Reeling', both of which are topped off by a children's choir. The eccentric 'Sleepyhead' has hooks which defy description, while other cuts include accomplished live drums. Michael Angelakos' falsetto & the overly peppy nature will annoy many, but where 'Manners' trumps the debuts of similar acts MGMT & the Klaxons is in its lack of filler. Fantastically produced, this is the feel-good LP of 2009. Recommended Tracks: Little Secrets, Sleepyhead, The Reeling & Let Your Love Grow Tall.

It's definitely top-heavy, but the first four songs that make it top-heavy are simply incredible. Make Light will have you air-drumming, Little Secrets will be stuck in your head for weeks, Moth's Wings will have you frantically searching for a lighter to wave in the air, and The Reeling's chorus will definitely have you singing along. This is a very fun synth-pop album, and it, or at least its first four tracks, should be played over and over again.

The music inside the album art is so different from what you may expect. One of the more poppy and dancey albums released this year. My friend says: "Sounds like fruit juice to me, sweet and tart at the same time, delicious."

Manners is kind of hit-or-miss. The meandering middle is pretty much forgettable, as is the final song. That being said, I LOVE this album. Its basic sound is sugary and sweet, but this is perfectly balanced by gritty lyrics about searching for sanity in the world. Most of these songs are irresistible to sing or dance along to. This is one of my favorite albums.
