This sounds so fucking good. The application and care they show here are one of the reasons Deafheaven were one of the most important bands of the past decade - yes they are i promise! Clarke's vocals sound more devilish than ever, the dynamics are tight and flow very well, and the blackgaze moniker has simply rarely been honored as much. If yo momma ever wanna know what this whole "blackgaze stuff you keep massacring whatever's left of your sanity with" is, prepare her some tea, give her a comfy blanket, and let her enjoy the retrospective of the most successful heavy band of the 2010s.

My "secondary-AOTY". Even though I know them "only" for 5 years, this was a very memorable compilation with a tracklist which has almost all of my most favourite songs by them. The dynamic, dreamesque blackgaze masterpieces flow perfectly together, and there is nothing to complain about. (Maybe the odd feeling when I've heard no pianos in "The Pecan Tree", but that's alright.) Listening to "10 Years Gone" is an extraordinary and great pleasure to hear/feel our favourite Deafheaven songs, and especially the pink noisy hug through the two songs at the end felt the most precious. Thanks for everything.
