Disappointing describes my feelings the best I think.rIt is kind of a shame what Blackpinks discography consists of apart from their title tracks. All of their songs have sounded kinda samey for years and this album gives little hope for change. Lovesick Girls could have been great if they actually understood what they were going for I think. The last chorus sounds super fun. Pretty Savage is a well executed Blackpink song and thats about it. How you like that is a boring sounding Blackpink Title track.rIce cream is probably the song I despise the most lyricwise. Just why... I cant really think of any other song to comment on and thats saying a lot I think. Collaborations were kinda pointless as well. The vocal performances are very good overall which is to be expected. Blackpink are great performers which makes their lack and quality of discography all the more frustrating. Hoping for a more diverse and unexpected release from them soon.

Unfortunately, this album tries too hard at appealing to American audiences as it tends to be formulaic ("How You Like That"), forced ("Bet You Wanna"), and, as a whole, is not very cohesive. It is redeemed by fun vocal performances and some of their most heartfelt lyrics yet ("You Never Know"). But as a fan, I have been able to find a few songs to jam to on near repeat whenever I need a pick-me-up. Anyways, I'll just wait here while I anticipate their debut *full-length* album.

If you?re not already a die-hard fan of the group, I doubt that this collection of tracks will turn you into one. It will most certainly help them reach the next level and keep on breaking records; but its artistic merits are not the glue that holds everything together. For that, look more into the group?s polished image, their incredible choreographies, the expensive visuals and the mystery around their chemistry.

BLACKPINKS debut LP is one that (for the most part) plays to the strengths of the
remembers in the group. their is no denying that is a fun LP, the highlight of the album
by far is Lisa and Jennie, who carry the album with a self-confident swagger and is one
of the main appeals of BLACKPINK (and also both are really good rappers, which is
something BLACKPINK at least seems to do better then a lot of their K-pop Peers). Even
Jusoo steps up and the members have really fantastic charisma throughout the whole album.
The only main knock i have against this is "Bet you wanna" which is a painfully stale
track that proves Cardi B ruins everything she touches.while their are two other cuts
which sound very much dated ("lovesick girls" is right out of 2012) it does not knock the
fact that this is overall a really great listening experience. Though BLACKPINK if you
were trying to westernize yourselves, wouldn't it make sense to put past hits like "Kill
this love" and "DUU-DU-DU-DU" on the album too, i mean at least you would have a proper
album, and not a glorified mini-album?

It's definitely not one of their better albums. Their attempts to make themselves more "accessible" even though they already are raccessible further dilutes the quality of their songs. There are some good songs such as "Lovesick Girls" that harken back to good rqualities of their previous songs such as "As If It's Your Last". "You Never Know" is also a highlight, which utilise the strength rof the girls' vocals and smart instrument choices to differentiate itself from the obligatory ballads found in most k-pop albums.rHowever, many of the songs are ok at best, and "Ice Cream", despite being a promising collaboration with Selena Gomez (though not rher fault), is absolute rubbish.

After six amazing EPs Blackpink falls face flat with their debut LP. The hype tracks have been replaced with domesticated throwaway tracks. This could have and should have been amazing. As someone who has enjoyed everything they've done I am disappointed, but I'm hoping it grows on me, if I can give it another chance. ????
