I was on the edge for this the first listen. I wasn't too impressed at first, just becuase i had mind set on a "hardcore" album. After probly 15 runs through the album over the past few days, i think im addicted by now. The overall musicianship has tightened up, and they just seem so f..ing dirty now. Great album, one of the top hardcore album contenders for this year so far.

With this album the band moves away from Hardcore and focuses on a more centered Punk style. Grey Britain doesn't fail to deliver catchy enjoyable punk anthems, working hooks and sing-a-longs very well. Yet the band lost it's identity and the album is affected by it. The musicianship has changed turning simpler yet effective, the vocals are weaker and sometimes don't fit the rest of the song. Overall the album is a step back for Gallows, but that doesn't mean it can't be enjoyed.

A brutal yet strangely beautiful album about British society and its failings. Frank Carter takes the listener to the depths of anger and despair in a unique way; truly a perfect album.

The concept behind Grey Britain is interesting enough, but for that concept to be the backdrop of a hardcore/punk record is legitimately cool. The record deals with the band's emotions toward their motherland, Britain, and more specifically what they believe is the slow decay of their home. The record is angry and vibrant being set off with classical instrumentation at its end. Pissed off lyrics, squealing pigs, and perfect production make this record what it is - a modern 99 thesis, a disgruntled youth threatening the establishment which has threatened their heritage.

This album has a really nice dark atmosphere with good lyrics and good songwriting.
Heavier than the last cd in some spots and much softer in others. Very easy to listen all
the way through, But i might be the only person on this site that actually likes Frank
Carter.
