Who would have known that lackluster emo trap and 00s pop punk actually mixes into something pretty awesome? More importantly, I commend MGK for using his status to attempt to revive pop punk or rock in general back into the mainstream.

Instead of trying to discover himself as a musician outside of the realm of rap, MGK decides instead to painfully mimic the early 00s pop punk vibes that have been dead for over a decade and a half for good reason. Lyrical substance is at an all time low here, instrumentation finds itself at a weird blend between awkward trap and generic pop punk--and MGK's "Eh, I guess I can sing if you want me to" vocals make my eyes roll. While listeners desperate for a taste of nostalgia from the 2000s may find something to enjoy here, the rest of us can just forget this ever happened.

Some of the songs are catchy and he has a pretty nice voice but I reckon most pub/small event guitarists could outplay MGK.

Damnit, there's a good album in here somewhere... Like if there was pertinent lyricism and actual introspection and actual surges of youthful energy, I might be able to consider this some type of pop punk mainstream revival. Fortunately, I don't have to listen to the radio to find good pop punk. EDIT: Do you think Operation Ivy got money for "All I Know?"

MGK proves if Tom Delonge can do it, anybody can. As mediocre and generic as this is it is still better than new blink and equal to 90% of generic pop "punk" records.

Turns out the album is pretty well represented by the cover: Machine Gun Kelly does his best Blink-182-esque pop-punk impression while maintaining all the same habits he had as a rapper, including horrible writing, over production, and needless filler.
