Losing Streak was Less than Jake's first major label record, and it highlights what made them so popular on the underground, which is catchy hooks and somewhat thought provoking lyricism. The album, and much of their output, lacks in sonic depth, but the band does have some talent, especially the bass player, who's instrument is at the forefront of the mix. The horns are good too, and to me the band became borderline unlistenable when they removed them from their sound. LTJ are kind of the Foo Fighters of the ska world, in that they have consistently had great singles, and don't really make bad music, they just have a very wide appeal, and therefore, don't stand out from their peers. There is still some good fun to be had on Losing Streak. Best tracks are Happy Man, Sugar in Your Gas Tank, Johnny Quest Thinks..., and Dopeman.
