| 4.5 superb | Herbie Chrost | October 2nd 20 | This and There Existed an Addiction to Blood were meant to be a double album, with each meant to be released around the same time as one another. This only got pushed back due to covid. So yes, this album isn't b-sides of TEAATB. That being said, this is the most experimental album the band has released so far and almost as noisy as Midcity. Eaten Alive is an EAI track, Enlacing dabbles in witch house, Looking Like Meat is trap metal featuring Ho99o9, Secret Piece is a Yoko Ono cover, Pain Everyday combines breakcore and chamber pop. The variety may feel off-putting at first, but reveals itself to be the album's greatest strength. Arguably clipping's best and most consistent outing yet.r

| 4.0 excellent | didnt ask to be staff, was made staff anyway, then got demoted for not doing staff stuff | December 29th 21 | Even more so than on 'There Existed an Addiction to Blood', clipping. are striking out with a strikingly dark, dense, and musically unsettling album, whose penetrating horror sound is brought back to reality by Daveed Diggs' delivery (not so much his lyrics, those stay quite consistently thematic), reminding you to not take this too seriously.

| 3.5 great | charlopiano | August 23rd 21 | I'm 100% sure I did not fully like this album, because I listened to it in a car, I'm sure that at 3 AM, sitting in bed, this is amazing.

| 4.0 excellent | Naomi Lores | August 14th 21 | The soundtrack of your sleep paralysis demon, this album is a full-out assault on the senses that you just can't wake up from. The transition form Wytchboard (Interlude) into `96 Neve Campbell is so chillingly evocative of those creepy horror movies, you feel like the pounding is on your own door. Other tracks like Eaten Alive cause more auditory pain than pleasure, but on balance clipping. delivers another outstanding work.

| 4.5 superb | XSebbyMcMuffinX | January 26th 21 | At first, I thought this might be a B-sides. That opinion was partially formed by hearing "Say the Name" first. However, that is easily the "safest" track on here, and serves a logical purpose near the beginning of the album as a bit of a calm. Comparing this to it's mirror album, There Existed An Addiction To Blood, there seems to be more of a psychological horror element here; whereas it's predecessor was largely based on fearing for your living flesh and blood in different contexts, there's a heavier element of underlying horrors and haunting here. If you're expecting the tone of Daveed's voice to haunt you more than the words he's saying, this isn't your kind of horror... This is more of an homage to classic horror movies that utilizes these tracks as a vehicle to make modern connections to legitimate points these movies made. This album is objectively an artistic achievement. While certainly not flawless (the interludes are less essential this time, Daveed's tone could occasionally be more aggressive), there are enough clear monuments to modern experimental hip-hop here to put clipping. very far into their own lane. Favorite/Recommended Tracks: Eaten Alive, Something Underneath, Enlacing

| 3.5 great | cjbizzlebizzle | December 31st 20 | Production that is out of this world creating an ominous industrial feel for the album and percussion that just sounds incredibly crisp and satisfying. The raps feel a bit improved over the previous album but the rapping and lyricism still remain the least interesting part of the music and still lack so much personality. Is this album actually scary? Thankfully clipping. recruit some guests, which generally deliver the more interesting vocal segments, and '96 Neve Campbell came to be. This feels like a 3.25 but giving the edge because of the truly great sonic qualities found throughout the record and the excellent work in the beats.

| 3.8 excellent | Erwann S. EMERITUS | October 26th 20 | The best 2020 Halloween album, period. Whether it's the beats' claustrophobic noisiness, or the vivid lyrics, this is a work of terror. It terrorizes me a tad less than There Existed An Addiction to Blood. The thing is, the last record contained "Piano Burning", a somewhat grating piece concluding the album. I feel like this time the more grating/experimental pieces are disseminated throughout the whole thing, which kinda impairs my listening experience. It still is an album that leaves you panting, especially when they let the songs ascend ("Say the Name"), when the industrial rhythms are at their most erratic ("Pain Everyday") or when they just decide to pull out a witch house banger ("Enlacing").

| 4.5 superb | Disorderly | October 26th 20 | A hefty step-up from There Existed an Addiction to Blood to me, which was definitely a great album in its own right. Visions of Bodies Being Burned feels more focused and concise than its predecessor (*ahem* Piano Burning), but also more deranged. I felt genuinely uneasy listening to some of these songs, i.e Make Them Dead or Body for the Pile. Others are just straight up gruesome bangers, such as Say the Name and Check the Lock. The production job on this record is awesome, and Diggs' performance is pretty impressive throughout its runtime. Bruhhhhh, that hook on Enlacing...in short, AOTY material.

| 4.0 excellent | Free Death #2 | September 30th 20 | I would be amazed if this wasn?t mostly taken from the cutting room floor of TEAATB, but it?s so easy to ignore that when this is so damn solid and beautifully arranged. Don?t call it a B-sides.
