This EP or Demo (they're unsigned so I dont know what you would call it) is FUCKING INSANE.....Look, if you can get past the general ideology of being against guitar-wankery; These guys are immensely talented to a point to where I never wanted to pick my Bass up again.
True - It is retardedly repetetive and does tend to come off as self-absorbed; But honestly - If you were this good and this coordinated would you not want to have a project completely dedicated to being just as insane and technical as possible? I mean, their bassist plays a custom 10-String Bass that he BUILT, and has 3 pickups in it. And somehow their 1 and ONLY guitarist manages to harmonize with the bassist on just a 6-String.....No matter what you think, that's damn impressive and requires ungodly hand-eye coordination...Which is something I unabashedly respect.
Vocally, their singer sounds like Suicide Silence on PCP; Stupendously sick Highs, and brutal, old Despised Icon-ish Lows - Which, for this area of Music, is rather nice.
As far as Drum Work goes, I thought for the LONGEST time that he was actually a Drum Machine, wherever this guy came from; He makes a lot of Origin's stuff look like child's play.
Either way, this is just their Demo/EP - thing.....They are currently recording a new EP with their new Rhythm Guitarist; Hopefully they wont pull a perverbial musical-suicide 180, like many great bands have done.
One cool thing to note is that on their new EP, they are using my idea for a Rare-Obscure Disease as a basis for a song (Esophagial Atresia), and putting my name in their EP Booklet, giving me credit for the song! So be looking for that...LOL

What separates this from the rest of the wank pack is that it actually has decently structured songs and some memorable riffs. It isn't brilliant but it's certainly better than crap like Brain Drill.

This would probably be amazing if the bassist and lead guitarist weren't motherfucking wankers. Mindless sweep picking does not constitute good song writing skills.

I don't see how this is different than any other "but it's SO technical!" validation of the very-tech-death genre. Yeah, they ARE so technical, props given, but it's still flowless, grooveless and soulless. And it has terrible breakdowns. So. It is what it is.

This is honestly a ridiculously good tech death EP! The endless wanking actually is the biggest strength of the band, as they manage to create incredibly catchy riffs and leads with the excessive technicality. Even though it seems really extreme at first, it's actually a very easy listen after you get used to it. Combined with some impressive drumwork, fun breakdowns and really good and memorable songwriting it's a brilliant EP. I enjoy listening to Viraemia immensely and I really hope this won't be their only output.

Despite seeming like wankery at first, the riffs are catchy and memorable. I still remember large portions of a song after not listening to this band for months sometimes.

I honestly don't think that this is just wanking. Many of the songs have memorable moments,
and even in the chaos of it all it feels like there is thought behind it. I love this band.
