A cool, unique album. Post-punk, black metal, shoegaze, all come together for great music!

Amesoeurs manage to keep each track on this album interesting. The music if often surprisingly upbeat seeing as this is the "darker half" of the Alcest/Amesoeurs duality. There is more energy and freedom expressed here than in anything I've heard from Neige thus far. Audrey Sylvain's vocals fit the atmosphere like a glove. It is my understanding that Amesoeurs is no more after the release of this album which is truly a shame.

As much as the list of the names involved allows hoping, Amesoeurs never lived up to the comparisons with Alcest and Les Discrets, disproportionately undermatching them on all accounts, most prominently due to the unimpressive songwriting and the terrible vocal performances of Audrey. You would think that the songs performed and written by Neige would work as well as his Alcest material, but not even those live up to the name of their writer. At the end of the day, the bunch of enjoyable songs (Recueillement comes to mind) fails to outweigh the albums weaknesses. - 4.5

Atmospheric post black metal shoegaze punk, eh? That's weird because this album is one of the most one-dimensional albums I think I've ever heard. The only song worth listening to twice would be Heurt and not even that one is especially good.
