4.5 superb | Gene Gol-Jonsson CONTRIBUTOR | October 19th 20 | What makes Kairon; IRSE!'s newest so great - much in the same vein as all of their work - is how it smartly and carefully works with its time. See, the songs are lengthy (not astronomically, but 5-6 minute average can scare some people anyway) and however engaging their build up and start is, they possess a frightening quality of growing tiresome. But the band knows that. They juice the song-writing just enough to make it stick and engross and then proceed to change it up little by little, until the tail ends are completely different structurally, melodically or tonally, or are elevated, monolithic versions of their beginnings. As such, 'Polysomn' becomes an increasingly exciting listen and an album worth returning repeatedly.
