| 4.5 superb | Wizard | June 5th 20 | Listening to so much blackened death metal over the years, I can safely say this isn't just a highlight within the genre but an absolute highlight of the year. With so many weird and wonderful passages, it's not a surprise if you missed most of the album after the tenth spin.

| 3.5 great | Melodeth | October 7th 21 | Came back to this after really getting Dy'th Requiem For The Serpent Telepath. Equally tasty blackened death dripping with atmosphere. 5th and 6th Passages slay so fkn hard.

| 4.0 excellent | Erwann S. EMERITUS | December 15th 20 | I don't know about you, but if I suddenly became an infernal motherfucker trapped outside space and time, I'd jam Eternity of Shahog. Apocalypse comes here in the form of blackened progressive death metal where violins and piano complete the occult climate. Sure, at first it slaps because of the epic sense of doom that emanates from the complexity of the music, but it's the ethereal melodies Asthaghul manages to pull out that truly makes this record an alluring experience. The record does start better than it ends, but imma nonetheless re-listen to this, and drift through eternity.

| 4.5 superb | maninthebox | December 4th 20 | Absolute madness is the only way I can describe this hour long dive into the diversity that can be found in the modern avant garde black metal scene. Eternity of Shaog contains savage outbursts of anger, followed by bewitching otherworldly melodies, and languid beauty. This is music truly worthy of chronicling the impending madness of an esoteric being locked outside of time and space. The fact that it all came from one guy is unbelievable.

| 4.0 excellent | Assemblage | June 28th 20 | So glad this one-man tour-de-force is continuously putting out awesome music and on a yearly basis. From the first album to now Esoctrilihum has been carving a unique niche in a genre which already prides on the subtleties of how it distinguishes itself, and his compositions carry through once again in increasing varying and differing ways, and needless to say are equally form-fitting. As a side-note, the album cover art is titled "The Dracula of Mars." The music is definitely a trip to Mars, in a Ray Bradbury black-metal spaceship, and complete with encounters with vampires.

| 4.0 excellent | Gary STAFF | May 29th 20 | Best Esoctrilihum so far, not far from a 4.5. Weirder and more adventurous than ever, I love it. (Bonus points for the synths!)

| 3.0 good | BRAman22 | May 24th 20 | While there are interesting ideas and sounds in this progressive black metal album, none of them grabbed me as much as necessary to justify the length.

| 3.0 good | BenCee | May 23rd 20 | Very vicious and fast-paced death metal with very odd, anxiety-inducing violins and other instruments thrown in. Unfortunately the constant inclusion of these into practically every section, along with some odd mixing choices causes the guitars to lose a lot of their power. Still worth a listen by anyone into Abyssal, Wormlust, and weird/dissonant black/death metal.
