Amorphis seems unlikely to release a bad album anytime soon, so I'm not really surprised by this quality album. While perhaps lacking the immediate "wow" factor of Silent Waters, this album is smooth, satisfying, and contains one of my new favorite Amorphis tracks, "Majestic Beast" - a track that solidifies my opinion that at their finest, this group makes Opeth less isolated in their Ascended status. While Opeth arguably exhibits superior technical skill, Amorphis delivers a solid package that doesn't need to show off to stand out. Most tracks on Skyforger are, as I said, smooth - easy to listen to, unobtrusive, and perhaps that's what keeps this from being a true masterpiece. Continuing in the vein of Silent Waters shouldn't come as a surprise given the warm reception of that album, and it shouldn't really be seen as a disappointment. "If it isn't broke, don't fix it" surely applies here.

It really has grown on me. The songs come into my head throughout the day. Good stuff.

Amorphis' most recent musical outing is essentially a few fantastic ideas spread out across a sea of mediocrity. While the band does try to delve more into a prog metal sound, Skyforger's eleven songs can easily become stagnant. This wasn't terrible...it just could have been way more interesting.

This is surely one of their top 3 albums. It
is progressive, heavy, melancholic and at the
same time uplifting, the lyrics are pure
poetry and the songs are pretty diverse from
one another. Amorphis is truly a legendary
band, we must learn to appreciate their
greatness and not take it for granted

It's an 'ok' disc with some good tunes and some forgettable ones. Amorphis always had this problem throughout their whole career and this ain't no exception.

Its not like "Eclpise" and of course "Silent waters", mostly because it lascks energy and speed, but again Amorphis make an album with amazing melodies and songs that can be favorites for the fans...my favorite songs: "Silver bride", "From the heaven of meart", "Sky is mine", "Sampo" and the title track...

I don't quite know what it is about this album. It's metal, but at the same time, it's very... calm.
What makes for excellent listening at first pales fairly quickly, but it's still worth a listen.
