3.9 excellent | Xenophanes EMERITUS | June 19th 20 | Are we really gonna take this shit from a bunch of CANADIANS??

4.5 superb | GreyShadow | April 16th 20 | Come on PTH! Write an album that's NOT a 4.5! Prove me wrong! You won't!

1.5 very poor | Erwann S. STAFF | June 22nd 20 | Nope. I felt I was going to hate this, and yeah I hate everything about this: the vocals, the guitar sound, the pointless interludes. Idk why I like wankery stuff like math rock but cbf to dig these guys. Apparently the concept and the lyrics are amazazazing, but I'd rather read the lyrics than having to listen to this record again. 1.6

4.5 superb | cloakanddagger | June 18th 20 | I was worried that PTH would flop on this album, but it absolutely rules. Best thing they've done since Fortress.

5.0 classic | TheMilkAlien | June 22nd 20 | A modern blend of punk and prog metal. Kezia meets Volition with the raw vocals you'd hear in Rody's side project, Mystery Weekend. The lyrics are a major value add this time around.

4.5 superb | grandbazaar | June 18th 20 | The band sounds invigorated and fresher than before. Rody's vocals are so much stronger and
despite the awesome riffs and dueling guitar frenzy he is the M.V.P here. Lots of tracks to love
here.
Highlights: From The Sky, All Hands, Little Snakes, Rivet

4.5 superb | HeroIsTea | June 18th 20 | The Fireside, Wow what the heck. feels like a Kezia 2

4.5 superb | TheSleepingSoul | June 16th 20 | aight i know this shit aint out yet but i gotta say that the last ~2m30s of From the Sky made me cum in my panties
anyway it's Protest the Hero so it's gonna be a 4.5 like every other album they've made (except Scurrilous sorry you're a 3.5)
edit: it's out and it's a 4.5 surprise!!! it's like a blend between Scurrilous and Pacific Myth but better realized & not as occasionally samey and predictable as those two albums were, with the surprises & genre-bending manic energy that Fortress and Volition brought. a few songs sound like Coheed on meth. Jadea Kelly is dearly missed, but make no mistake this kicks ass

2.0 poor | The Aspie Fantastie | November 30th 20 | So I'm trying to think of what exactly irks me about this album; apart from the vocals, most obviously obnoxious and ill-fitting for this. The instrumentation itself is quite fine, even though the production takes any edge off it and makes it sound like music school students showing off at the recital. The song-writing is chaotic, but does not make up for the chaos. It's a perfectly unrewarding album really. The vocals don't change their range (in the rare moments they do, they are unremarkable at best), songs are convoluted and pretend they're complex and the instrumentation is killed by its lick-sleek sound.

3.0 good | Lichtmensch | June 23rd 20 | First time listening to PTH and I gotta say these are some of the most annoying vocals I have ever heard.

4.5 superb | AtTheGates92 | June 19th 20 | Started off as a 3.5, then a 4, and 5 listens in I've got to give it at least 4.5. Let's see if it'll reach Fortress status.

5.0 classic | SteefJan1970 | June 17th 20 | Today received the official download pack for the record including all the songs. A day earlier as Sheet Happens Publishing states. Listened to it a couple of times already and it's a classic (a grower for sure).r

3.0 good | GamamJ | August 7th 20 | Very nice album with stunning flow. Super technical, though only to people who know what to look gor. As a result the music does not sound overly flashy though it is very complex. Very very melodic as well. My biggest issue is that I basically can not stand the vocals. Way too thin for my liking.

4.5 superb | ShadowNeko | July 25th 20 | This album absolutely rocks hard. My only gripe is some of the lyrics are political cringe, other than that, it's instrumentally and vocally just as great as Volition. rBravo PTH!

3.0 good | davezillaMP3 | July 17th 20 | A little too much prog. wankery for my taste, also is the singer holding his crotch the whole time cuz holy hell that is some rather high singing, kinda impressive. Overall if you are a prog. person then this might be regarded way higher to you then it was to me, but all and all I thought it was good.

3.5 great | Elevon | June 30th 20 | I'm a huge PTH fan and just can't get into this -- IMO it's a downgrade in every respect. Worse songwriting, worse lyrics, worse vocals. But I also think Scurrilous is their best album, so take my opinion with a grain of salt.

3.5 great | ajcollins15 | June 24th 20 | The four-piece Canadian band has finally released their long-awaited fifth album and they continue to make powerful progressive metal music with very high pitched vocals. In some ways, this is a lot of great things coming together. From the amazing instrumentals that keep your foot tapping or head bobbing to the twisting lyrics attacking different historical events that we as a human race still need to learn from. While in other ways there are things that the band still hasn?t been able to fix since their inception in 2006, i.e. the record goes on for far too long. The best tracks here are really amazing and bring a lot to the table. While other tracks could have been left on the cutting room floor. I still enjoy this record a lot and recommend it to anyone who is a fan of progressive metal because you won?t be disappointed.

4.5 superb | BRAman22 | June 23rd 20 | PTH have always been a great band, but they've REALLY been on it since Volition. Palimpsest is another terrific album that reaffirms PTH's foothold as one of the best metal bands currently in the game.

0.0 | Blud Vidal | June 22nd 20 | My second favorite work of art named "Palimpsest" after my sput username's namesake's famous memoir. This album is a bit more of a comeback than a defining work and will undoubtedly be less controversial if more fun to experience.
