So, is Cornell trying to bring sexy back? That's the impression that this Timbaland collab gives off. I wouldn't call Scream a case of Chris taking a dump on his legacy, but rather his legacy taking a dump on this album. Lets face it: we remember this man as a major player in the alt-rock/grunge phase of the 90's and he's been semi-relevant ever since. This just isn't an album for typical Chris Cornell fans. I'll admit that the majority of these beats are pretty repeticious and Cornell's voice (to me) is not well-suited for hip-hop music. Still, I hate to rag on the guy for making an album that wasn't a carbon-copy of his previous work, and you can't fault him for trying something new...or is that exactly what we're doing here? I don't agree with the album, but I do think she's getting a little more slack than she deserves, and I'm pretty sure this could find a fanbase somewhere.

One of the greatest vocalists of all-time (produced by Timbaland) delivers a train-wreck of guilty pleasure. While it is an awkward mix of talents, the songs are catchy and entertaining to listen to (when given a chance).

I remember it was this big thing about how he was collaborating with Timbaland, and everyone was extremely curious... until the album dropped, and about 90% of Cornell fans promptly vomited wherever they were. But... I kinda like it. It's fairly catchy in places and there's a reasonably good flow to the tracks. Also, I know this will sound sarcastic, but I think he sings "That bitch" quite well!

In my opinion its not the worst album in history but its strange to hear Chris voice in mix of
r&b and electronic pop. Ofc its well produced, songs are catchy and like a pop album its really
good. Next thing, i dont like transitions between songs, its like a couple seconds of next
song in the previous song. Odd intervention.

Absolutely cannot believe this garbage was made by the same person who gave us Temple Of The Dog, Soundgarden & Audioslave. But you know what? It's not really a Chris Cornell album. It's actually a Timbaland album with Chris on vocals. Timbaland tried to make him sound like a second Justin Timberlake, laughably failing. Chris, please do yourself a favor and stay away from Timbaland. Stick to rock music, that's what made you famous in the first place. No more of that dance-pop drivel.

Considering I was a fan of Timbaland before Chris (yes, shame on me), I actually quite enjoyed this album. If it were, say, Justin Timberlake in the place of Cornell, this wouldn't be getting completely trashed. Give this a shot if you have a liking for Tim's meticulously textured soundscapes, and not merely for the vocal prowess of Chris (you won't be impressed rby his performance here anyways).

This album might be cringeworthy, and might not be terribly catchy, and might be radically different from what he's done before. But the amount of hate this album gets is unbelievable. Any fan of his previous work isn't going to approach this with open ears, thus the incredibly poor ratings. Not a masterpiece, but it isn't absolute garbage.

Rock God Chris Cornell is brought down this level of pop trash. Even as a pop/dance album this pretty bad. The only reason I don't give this album a total 1 is because I heard a live performance of Long Gone, and it wasn't terrible. I also have a weird liking for the song Ground Zero, but as a Soundgarden fan, I'm quite ashamed of it.

Oh dear, Chris hasn't remade 'Superunknown'. I guess the real problem with this album is fans of his previous work are die hard rockers and this album doesn't seem to have been made for them. I think in years to come, this will become one of my 'guilty pleasures', since I thoroughly enjoyed it repeatedly when it first came out and although I don't listen to it much these days, I still enjoy the odd track when they pop up on 'shuffle'. Having said all that, I thoroughly hope CC returns to his rock roots for the next one.

Whether your previous skeptic ideas about Cornell working with Timbaland seemed bad, you can't deny that it could be really creative despite the oddness. However, it can be confirmed that after listening to Scream: the oddness outweighs the creative collaboration resulting in an album that's a bit atrocious. Rather than reaching out to each other and mix and matching ideas: both of these artists just smash all their ideas/signature styles to a wall and let them all stick...regardless them working or not. The songs are certainly catchy but Cornell's vocals are pretty much suffocated by Timbaland's signature yet cliché textures and deadpan beats. This results in basically most of the songs dragging in a really awkward fashion. What makes things even more awkward is with the attempt they use to segue from song to song. The ideas there seemed thrown together last minute rather than appropriate or smooth. Chances are that Top 40 nut jobs will embrace this album to add to their collection because of Timbaland's name on it. There will be a good number of us however agreeing with Trent Reznor about this: it's odd, awkward, and all together a uncomfortable listen.
