Battle Hymns is a landmark album for heavy metal. It shows influences by bands like Black Sabbath, Judas Priest and in general the N.W.O.B.H.M. The album is characterized by heavy riffing and pompous bass lines, while Eric Adams delivers some powerful, sky-high vocals which depict nothing less than the immense depth of his voice. The only drawback is the production. Recommendations: "Metal Daze", "Manowar", "Battle Hymn", "Shell Shock"

GREAT DEBUT BY A GREAT BAND! I really like this album, it's an essensial old school heavy metal with great songs like Fast taker, Manowar and shell shock....THE BEST TRACK HERE IS THE EPIC BATTLE HYMN, THE BEST MANOWAR SONG PERSONALLY....EPIC!

Their debut remains one of their best records. My favourite macho tracks here are Death Tone, Metal Daze, Fast Taker and specially Manowar and Battle Hymn. Classic old school US Heavy Metal

Battle Hymns is best described as a metal-clich?It has fast guitar solo's, pounding riffs, high over the top singing and lyrics about fast driving with motorcycles, sex and heavy metal. The first half of this album consists of catchy singalong metalsongs, while the other half is more epic and musically better. A great album, but unfortunately the only real good, consistent album by Manowar.
