Purely business as usual for the man at this stage - Coming off fresh from the success of his revolutionary The Shape of Jazz To Come, here Coleman continues to use that same ilk of fairly standard bop
structures (minus the complete lack of chords) partially directed by soloists whose improvisations are completely, indeed, free. Throw in some wonky, labyrinthic rhythms for the themes, for good measure.
No instant money makers like "Lonely Woman" or "Peace", but anyone who dug The Shape... and wishes to find more of it has no reason to skip this.
