Metal AOTY contender for me! Very unique and not what I was expecting judging from album cover alone. Also 1st track is very no-wave era Swans-ish and it sounds totally filthy

It's a testament to what Gorguts can do with dissonant chaos. When that brand of insanity misses the mark for even an instant the whole thing unravels. I wish this was edited down to only it's best bits. It's a strong album that elicits a strong response, it's just not always interesting.

There's something really central in music these guys successfully ignore. That's their job apparently. For me the samples kinda glue this mess together. Great job, if you take the ultimately un-engaging moments.

Pretty solid album, but to me the faster songs stand head and shoulders above the slower ones.

While I do like this, the whole thing ends up blending together and there's very little memorable. The Mother of Virtues was similarly noisy and chaotic, but every song there had its own sound that made it stand out; this just feels like one giant hour-long piece of death metal noise. The only thing I really remember is The Cost of Living, and that's just because it's an absolutely tedious slog compared to the rest of the album.
