The sophomore release by the Aussies sounds more polished and refined in contrast to the raw and gritty debut. It shows an overall improvement not only in terms of songwriting but also production quality. They fuse eloquently post-grunge and alternative rock elements in a more interesting way. Their Nirvana influences are obvious but they never tried to hide them anyway. There are some great riffs and in combination with Johns? often bittersweet and crackly voice, they create strong hooks which help Freak Show show the potential that Frogstomp never did. Tony recommends: "Freak", "Lie to Me", "Abuse Me", "Cemetery", "Roses"
