If this averages a 3.8 Make Them Suffer will be neck and neck with Chevelle on 3.8 albums in their discography.

I've appreciated everything the band has done up until this point, but truthfully I find this pretty underwhelming. Falling Ashes and Soul Decay are kinda cool, but nothing else really stands out that much aside from The Attendant, which is apparently a leftover cut from Worlds Apart.

Big fan of the opening. Album really starts off strong. Back half isn't as great but still super enjoyable. Make Them Suffer and Currents really killing it this year.

This album feels so odd. The chorus's are so drastically different in quality which makes or breaks the song entirely. rStill bangs though

Album is boring, monotonous, with the same chuggy riffs and same vocal cadence from the scream vocalist on every song. Of course, they use the good cop bad cop formula in the choruses, such a cheap way to utilize dynamics.
Everything about this is tepid, bland, and uninspired

Make Them Suffer is a five-piece Australian metalcore and deathcore band that has one of the most solid record release history out of anyone in the genre. They have stuck with their pummeling, hard-hitting, and emotional record outputs, and ?How to Survive a Funeral? is no different. Tracks are filled with brutal drum fills, heavy guitar riffs, and aggressive screams, and soaring cleans/screams. Everything you would ever want from Make Them Suffer returns and although for a lot of people this is a bit of a hit or miss record. For me there is a lot of ideas the band continues to play with that I am all for; the ambient synth chords, the extremely potent female vocals, and the extremely honest lyrical content. For me, this is the strongest showing from the band since their debut record and I am all for it. The biggest mistake with this record is that some of the tracks aren?t as hard-hitting as others and there is one song that sticks out like a sore thumb near the end of the tracklist. But, this is still a great, and short, metal album that people should check out if you're looking for something heavy.

This rating is a 3.8 and not for the meme. I love the oldschool hardcore influences in the instrumentals on this album. Also the Japanese horror game-alike intro riff from Ashes is really amusing and a fairly interesting opening to a killer track. That song sounds like it came out from the best After the Burial record. My issues with this album stem from the painfully weak Drown With Me and some weird moments where both vocalist don't coexist in peace. That being said, the title track and closer could easily be near the top of my favorite tracks from these guys. To me this is better than the giant disappointment Worlds Apart was but still really, really far away from the best MTS.
