| 4.5 superb | Chino smoking it up! | March 20th 20 | What a brilliant fresh piece to unfold...imagine insert post gazey rock melodies in the most gritty kind of brutal deathmetal...awesome stuff...riffs are super dynamic in constant change (awesome to more awesome riffs though). I also personally dig how the drums sound here. Perfect mix. If you dig Artificial Brain you can't miss this. Not to mention, in this World's Corona threat, you have awesome song titles like - Spiritually Transmitted Disease or Minimum Self Distance...out of this subject, Beheading the Buddha is a hard song title, not has a hard as the track itself tho m/ x).

| 4.0 excellent | Dmax28 | March 12th 20 | I expected a little more out of the final 7 minutes. Turns out there is some serious post rock influence on here (in a good way) Overall, super fresh and cool album with jaw dropping vocals and atmosphere. This proves the music doesn't have to be played extremely fast to be slick, thought provoking, and brutal. There are no dull bits.

| 4.0 excellent | SinNanna | May 17th 20 | On Four Dimensional Flesh, Afterbirth create an interesting mix of death metal in the brutal or slam kind of vein, and other styles of rock music, namely progressive metal with psychedelic rock and post-rock tendencies, and the result is trippy to say the least. None of this to me feels as something thats gimmicky or style-over-substance, as this record is full of these guttural, twisted death metal passages that show that this band doesn't just want to make something that's overloaded in technical wankery, but actually have an ear for making eccentric metal music. This record has a nice organic sound and prominent bass too, steering away from the more sterile and overproduced type of production that has always been a huge turnoff on a lot of modern progressive metal releases for me personally. This type of death metal definitely warrants a certain kind of acquired taste, but anyone who has the appreciation and the patience should definitely be listening to this. I wish the band indulged a bit more in some of those genuinely beautiful atmospheric passages they tend to work into the tracklist at times, but other than that this is easily one of my favourite metal records of 2020.

| 3.5 great | maninthebox | January 5th 21 | An eclectic unique album that is not quite the sum of its parts. Individual moments are top tier but added together the flow of the release feels uneven.

| 3.6 great | Erwann S. EMERITUS | August 4th 20 | Brutal death metal band is br00tal and technical and has got a dope scifi cover art: more news at 10. Vocalist is manbearpig material, "RUH RUH RUH"-ing a la Lord Worm, and is aptly supported by a band at the top of their game and a crunchy production. But it's when the a t m o s p h e r e dictates the tempo that the band's music is imo at its best: the instrumental tracks are great spacey death metal, and the incorporation of synths and post-rock dynamics helps cementing the scifi approach chosen by the band. Great stuff, shame this came out the same year as Ulcerate.
