On par with sin, this is accessible metalcore that?s done strikingly well. No complaints.

I liked this album a lot. The first half is stellar, with the great title track, Amongst The Shadows and The Stones and Catastrophist kicking the album off. I will say, it has some weak moments. Bleed Into Me is kinda mediocre, I liked the intro of the title track a lot which is now an unnecessary separate track, and despite some nice bass work, Scattering The Ashes isn't that impressive. I was scared this would have TSATS syndrom: Great first single and album opener, alright second single and the rest of the album being more overal just allright, but I think Trivium really knocked it out of the park on this one. Definitely one of the year's best records

The Sin and the Sentence was a true return to form for Trivium, but What The Dead Men Say proves that it rwasn?t a fluke and is an overall leaner, more consistent record that doesn?t overstay its welcome. Sickness Unto rYou, The Ones We Leave Behind, The Defiant, and Catastrophist are some of the best songs the band has ever rput out

I don?t know why I thought I would like the new Trivium album. The four-piece Orlando, Florida band are on their ninth studio album and it sees them going back to the drawing board in some good ways, but mostly not great. I really enjoy metalcore and will continue to search for new and exciting bands in the genre. I don?t like thrash metal?both classic and modern. The sound is so damn boring to listen to. After about twenty to thirty minutes I am about over the soaring guitars and fast-paced drums. This album sees the band going back to their past while trying to keep to their present and most of it comes off and classic, but stale and boring as the album progresses. I don?t know if it is me not liking the genre of thrash that is keeping me away from this album or if it is the band, but God I don?t really like coming back to this.

Have never cared for Trivium, not even back in my newbie days when they were first dropping albums. For some reason I checked this out and keep coming back to it though...

THEY ARE BACK! Their best record of the last years.The days of "Ascendancy" have gone forever and I have realized that, but we always expect a great record by Trivium, like this one. Better, more consistent and heavier than "The Sin and the Sentence", with some really great songs like the title track, "Catastrophist", "The Defiant" (Best song of the record, reminds me a lot the sounds of Ascendancy), "Amongst Shadows and Stones" and "Sickness Unto You".

It is a more melodic direction, but it is an enjoyable one. Still, do we call Trivium a Metalcore band with thrash elements or a thrash metal band with metalcore band?

Anyone expecting this to be as great as Shogun is going to be disappointed. However this album is still worth a listen. The riffs are catchy and the songwriting in general is appealing. I wouldn't call it a technical masterpiece but it really doesn't need to be. What The Dead Men Say a fun album to listen to, which is more than I can say for a lot of Trivium's previous output.
