4.5 superb | davezillaMP3 | February 7th 20 | there is a massive influence on 90s hip hop on this project, the samples on this thing are on
point, and the bass hits hard and is crisp. Denzel just kills it with his flows and his intensity.
The album is a bit too short, and as such, it feels like in the end does not quite reach the full
potential this regardless is a fantastic album that takes influence from "boom-bap" but hits
harder.

5.0 classic | blackbird223344 | September 27th 23 | Unlocked is a dive into chaos and cyberspace, a rap album truly FOR the internet age. Track after track, Curry tears the OUTSTANDING production into absolute shreds. His vocal inflections and flows are the best they have EVER been. The opener, besides the very cool intro, is Take_it_Back_v2. This kind of title runs through the project, and it is so so so much fun and only adds to the stylized feel of the tape. The song has these gargantuan drums that smash and slam across the board as Curry spews out menace in an early highlight. Vocal effects are applied with little downtime, and these constant shifts only add to the unpredictability of the song and album. His voice squeaks and growls in equal measure, creating a dissonance SO magical and fun to hear. Lay_Up.m4a is just a fantastic expression of Currys lyrical ability, with a personal favorite being "Why I gotta go on tour to show you I'm going through stages?". Killer line after killer line make an absolute gem. The productions a bit more muted here, with strange melodies aplenty as Denzel dances around them with precision. Production wise, I especially want to compliment the kicks. Whatever drum kit Kenny is Song after song, the drums SHINE through as especially good. DIET_ is another gem, with one of the best beats on the album and so many diamonds of lines. The picture this album paints is just so fun to experience. I hope and pray we get a sequel.

3.0 good | SinNanna | November 30th 20 | One of the best rappers and one of the best producers in the game right now squashed their little beef and came together for an EP of hardcore hiphop bangers. As an overall project it feels a bit rushed and could have definitely been fleshed out further, especially because they went through the trouble of making a little movie to go along with it, but the fun and chemistry is undeniably there. I guess for me the scantness of this project makes it not have that much replay value at the end of the day, which is a shame considering the lineup of this thing.

3.0 good | cjbizzlebizzle | October 16th 20 | For some reason just feels underwhelming after the very over the top and grand TA13OO. The beats are fun with a nice mix of sampling, electronics and nice snappy snares and they suit Denzel's aggressive rapping, but the lyrics aren't as engrossing as what Curry has been able to do in the past. Usually EPs are perfect for these kind of collabs but it feels like longer songs might actually work better in this case.

3.5 great | Bedex | July 20th 20 | This is cool, but I think it suffers from the beatmaker and vocalist somewhat competing for attention and not working together as much as they could, and also from the beatmaker himself having some erratic song construction at times. There's a lot going on and the record feels like it has a very short attention span. But in general some of the sounds are amazing, evoking 90s Wu-Tang with some of the samples, Quasimoto/Madlib on other tracks, and some tracks feeling quite fresh and original. 1 shows the former two influences in a Denzelless beat, then 2 is quite cool. I dig the transition at 1:20 but not so much some of the weird vocals they added - a common theme. The vibe on 3 is cool and Denzel is on point but the slow tempo forces him into awkward flows, and again the added voice are zzz. 4 is cool again but shows what I mean by them competing for attention. 5 is quirky and I dig some bits and hate others. 6 is my fave here, it's an original track that is very well executed without annoying elements at all. 7's first half is really fun with the bass, but then the track just dies. 8 has a dope beat again and is kinda cool, but again most of the tracks are too erratic to make a lasting impression. Still, this is shorts and has lots of ideas, so worth a check. 3.5

4.0 excellent | Gene Gol-Jonsson CONTRIBUTOR | June 1st 20 | Quick concise dense hip hop minialbum with a lot of humour and not a single damn weak spot. I wish the two reunite for more future releases and one day come forth with a longer project, because my greedy ass wants more.

0.0 | Gyromania | February 11th 20 | In many ways, Unlocked sounds like a lost gem from the '90s. Highly influenced by MF Doom, this is probably the darkest and most sample-driven zel has sounded. Every track is a winner

3.8 excellent | Erwann S. STAFF | February 10th 20 | Short but sweet collab. 'Zel is as always bringing the energy up to 11 and delivers solid bars, even though it's sometimes corny (ain't nobody wanna hear 'bout yo dick man). On the other hand, Kenny does his best 2004 Madlib impersonation without being a feeble copycat. Almost a shame it ends so abruptly, a full-length project between these two could have resulted in one of the coolest 2020 LPs.
