3.0 good | Gene Gol-Jonsson CONTRIBUTOR | December 16th 20 | In many respects even more bluntly political than their usual work (even 'American Band') and in many respects one of their least adventurous albums. Not sure how to interpret it above these aspects. Some songs can be quite repetitive and only carry an internal message as a hopeful saving grace. Whether that is achieved or not is up to each listener's own viewpoint. The album is uneven and is a little more trying-to-be-substantive than actually having anything to show for.

2.5 average | Deadwing2112 | February 4th 20 | A political no-holds barred record ultimately falling flat and uninspired. Despite a reasonable layoff following America's Band, DBT sounds forlorn and defeated in its state of the union messages presented here. The rambunctious energy from far better efforts such as Southern Rock Opera and The Dirty South leave memorable impressions inspiring further thought and more importantly tangible change. The Unraveling feels just that; the cause is already lost and not worth the fight.

3.0 good | BigHans | January 31st 20 | The first 4 tracks are amazing, particularly Armageddon's Back in Town, which is easily one of Hood's best songs. It pretty much goes to shit after that, just a bunch of political songs that don't rock or have a hook.
