After listening to the Path of Totality and being utterly disappointed I didn't expect much from this album. Boy was I wrong! This album is a lot better than Path of Totality IMO. Where most of the songs on POT sound the same, the songs have a nice variety on Winter Hours. The best thing about this album is not that Tombs does a good job of sounding like a Neurosis/Isis hybrid band. The best thing is the thick wall of sound they create. You would swear that there are 5 to 6 members in this band, but three guys, just three guys make this crushing sound. The only negatives about this album are its length (a whopping 37 minutes) and the number of interludes/instrumentals. The instrumentals are not bad in themselves, its just that after being pummeled by tracks like Merrimack and Seven Stars The Angel of Death you want more. After loving this album, I think I'll give POT another listen and see if anything clicks.
