Black metal community summary of Myrkur: "Woman + black metal = bad, woman now singing doing what she does best, love the way her sound is progressing, hopefully she continues (stays out of BM) in this direction".rMyrkur had a great take on BM and now proves she can just straight up sing with the best of them. Amazing production. 'Fager som en Ros', 'House Carpenter' and 'Vinter' are highlights.

A metal artist going folk can be either hit (Ulver) or miss (most of the rest let's be real), and Myrkur mostly hits with Folkesange: her take on Nordic folk is gorgeous, if a tad too monotone.

This one feels like a trip to the great outdoors, over tall mountains, frosty lakes, and misty forests. The major protagonist here is Amalie Bruun and her beautiful voice that shines like the Northern Lights. More importantly, the album doesn't sound forced, but rather natural and organic.

I really needed this. Beatiful nordic folk + Amalie Bruun's heavenly voice = pure gold. Productionwise speaking, the album is excellent, the instrumentation really matches to her singing, and all those uplifting melodies make this a perfectly relaxing album. Great year for folk music!

Finally she's doing what she can do best. Abandoning black metal elements, which were too frail in her music, and focusing on her glorious voice under a hefty, purely folk album. Well done, a great listen.
