2.0 poor | NecroAsphyxia | February 20th 20 | Holy s#it, this is unbelievably underwhelming. I love this band since The Fantasy Effect;
all their previous three recordings have a special place in my heart, especially The
Color Clear. But this is just a big chugfest disappointment which partly reminds me of
Emmure. Only Samsara sounds like a genuine (Reflections) songs, the end of Help is great
and I like the Vildhjarta vibes of Seven Stages. Despite of that where are all the great
riffs and melodies? They have so much talent and what they do is write almost a 40
minutes breakdown underlayed with some ambient sounds. All in all the record is tedious
as a whole but I will listen to it a few more times. I hope I will dig it more when I am
familiar with the breakdown rhythms.

2.0 poor | KMassam | February 20th 20 | Echoing Necro on this one. rTheir back catalog is very near and dear to me. This is such a far cry from that. Nothing but 40 minutes of uninspired breakdowns with the guitars tuned as low as possible, and Jake sticking to basically one style of vocals (lows with this weird pitch shifted effect thrown on intermittently that does not sound good). The mathy sections, crazy leads, and solos are all gone in favor of being as ?heavy? as possible. Talk about a total disappointment.

2.5 average | Kenneth Pangilinan | February 20th 20 | Upon the first few listens, this is pretty underwhelming. Where are the riffs and dissonant dweedles? There's more chugging than a college frat party...

2.0 poor | ZoddHand | August 12th 21 | Few good riffs but other than that this is probably the most uninspired comeback album i've heard in recent years.

4.0 excellent | bigweinerdon | August 5th 20 | This is actually a good album when you ignore that dumb shit the vocalist loves to do where he keeps whining/talking into a scream, like shut the fuck up bud. Instrumentals are great though.

3.0 good | WeAreReturningHome | March 19th 20 | It's enjoyable but it's very generic and lacks a lot of melody compared to TCC. I'm giving
it a 3.0 even though
it should be a 2.5 just because I'm digging the dark lyrics and ambient parts like in
'Ghost'. I really do like the album art and the name they chose "Willow" it's so fitting for
their concept album.

2.5 average | franklinbumbleton | February 21st 20 | TCC is my favorite album of all time, and holy shit does this disappoint. Everything to love about that album is pretty much missing here, some of the tracks like Ghost and Help are fun to listen to simply because they go so hard.

3.5 great | LoganTaylorD | February 21st 20 | I found myself enjoying this more than I thought upon realizing what type of album it was, I do miss the old style of Reflections but its not entirely gone, this feels like a transitionary album back.

3.0 good | Dmax28 | February 20th 20 | The Color Clear is an exceptional album that shows an impressive range of instrumentation
and tones. It's pretty shocking they went so far in the other direction with such a
linear sound here. The singles on this sounded more intriguing when I didn't know the
whole album was going to be that same sound. This is at its worst on tracks like
Isolation and Marionette which back to back basically come across as one big non-event.
Dismal, Empathy, Seven Stages, Help, and Ghost are great on here. I especially like
Dismal, which tastefully plays with its catchy repeating motif. When these guys are
actually giving me some riffing or dynamic parts it's satisfying. Their blunt lyrics are
still pretty refreshing, if maybe only for being shockingly straightforward. The
breakdowns on The Color Clear (my favorite part of that album) are better than anything
on this album though, and given that this is an album centered around them, that's too
bad.
