Sincere indie rock/emo with some alt-country stuff happening too. It's nice and mostly restrained, and I guess that's my problem with the record: the dynamics are very cool, and I would have liked some bursts of spontaneity. If you dig some intricate emo-influenced indie rock, jump on it. It's just almost there for me, but not yet.

Pretty straightforward but there was a sincerity in his voice that pulled me in. Nothing to write home about music-wise but it served its indie purpose so I won't be too picky there. Lyrics were smart and relatable. Definitely lost points for the drawn-out, boring ending. I'd give an extra half point to remove that last track.

Evan really has a gift for drawing sympathy from his listeners while also not driving head first into self indulgence territory. This album is no different in my eyes.

Pinegrove are doing their thing here, confessional Americana songs delivered with a gorgeous yearning vocal performance that aren?t afraid to delve into Emo melodrama with huge crescendos and raw lyrics. This new record is more mellow and subdued than anything they?ve done previously but the intimate production and Evan?s knack for painting a picture with his words keep me hooked on every moment.

The last album did nothing for me, but for some reason this is resonating, in particular the second half. Phase and Endless make for a great one-two punch. Songwriting is remarkable.
