| 4.0 excellent | Robert Garland STAFF | December 25th 19 | Thy Catafalque prove again to be the masters of whimsical experimental nuance disguised as metal.

| 4.5 superb | ChaoticVortex | January 24th 20 | Just when you thought Tamas Katai has shown every side of Thy Catafalque he throws some sexy smooth saxophones into the mix. An album full of creativity, energy and diversity.

| 3.5 great | Fernando Alves | January 24th 20 | Tamas Katai is managing his comfort zone quite well. There's no actual artistic evolution, but his inherent eclecticism remains captivating.

| 3.5 great | didnt ask to be staff, was made staff anyway, then got demoted for not doing staff stuff | November 2nd 20 | Thy Catafalque can be hit or miss, but just when depends entirely on random circumstances. Their general style and composition skill are admirable, rarely can I find a real dud in their repertoire, all songs are exceptionally crafted. However, it is the way these songs are crafted that can grow exhausting. No matter the quality of their work, when listening to a full album, I always become weary. And all songs that wear me out I can enjoy separately or in a different order. It is somehow the whole Thy Catafalque experience, as it is intended to be heard, that is so fatiguing to me.

| 4.0 excellent | cjbizzlebizzle | March 23rd 20 | There is avant-garde/prog material that makes you wanna go to the closet to find your dunce cap because you need a music PhD to understand what the group is going for and then there are bands like Thy Catafalque. Blending Hungarian folk into prog rock/metal while using what feels like an endless set of singing styles and instruments is no small feat. If one thing must be said about Naiv is that it comes off as beautifully natural, never feeling the least bit forced. The album flows so freely and wonderfully from beginning to end without ever making the listener feel lost in the technical aspect of the song structures or instrumentation. Thy Catafalque can groove, they can pull of string sections, they can bathe you in traditional folk vocals, they bring the energy and they cover so much ground without overextending their stay in this 47 minute record.

| 3.3 great | Erwann S. EMERITUS | February 12th 20 | Interesting record, because it succeeds at fusing so many genres without sounding random or disconnected. Basically, it's progressive metal. But they also throw in black metal, Berlin-school progressive electronic, and some folky tunes (which are apparently Hungarian, garas?), the best example of this versatility is the second track, Tsitsushka. Objectively, this is an excellent album, but I feel like my appreciation comes more from how well it blends so many genres without going awry rather than for how enjoyed I am while listening to it.

| 4.5 superb | kubernetes | January 27th 20 | This is Thy Catafalque as we can know it. Full of different ideas that are somehow familiar for
old listeners and exciting at the same time - with a huge emotional bonus that comes from the
atmosphere of the record. Really worth a listen!

| 3.5 great | xxPaleGhostxx | January 24th 20 | The mastermind behind Thy Catafalque is Tams Ktai and he has once again spun a mosaic clash of ambient sounds spanning from classical, rock, jazz, pop, throw in some black metal and Celtic and you're here. This is an emotional roller coaster which provides the listener with a vast soundscape with which to ride. Enjoyed.

| 4.0 excellent | Chino smoking it up! | January 24th 20 | All album is very good. Track 5 and 6 really clicked with me, but hey, I'm a big fan of that flute
folksy vibe with electronics a la Shpongle. Geometria somehow gave me no interest on checking
their discog...now I want to do them all. No complaints on the metal sections at all! Its really
awesome how seamless the genre fusion gets on Naiv.

| 4.0 excellent | Gary STAFF | January 24th 20 | What an exciting album! The variety within is incredible, and the albums feels really "colorful" - like serious Belus (by Burzum) vibes on the first track and nice Berlin school synths in "Vt" or "A valóság kazamatái" for example. Great guest vocals and so on, and the lyrical themes are very pretty. I expected something more lot more folk oriented, but the result was something more: lots of styles blended together embodying something never heard before.
And I feel guilty about the fact that I didn't really enjoyed every song, so I have a bit mixed feelings about this, but absolutely dominated by the positive side.
