Easy, pleasant and super polished, this is extremely dull and honestly a little bit baffling-Quinlan's voice is simply incredibly boring completely smoothed out here as it is, and these arrangements are mostly just convoluted and distracting. Unsurprisingly, the less polished tracks that actually show a pulse vocally fare the best, with the one-two punch of 'Went To LA' and 'Lean' being particularly strong. However, it's just a bit too little too late in what is otherwise a somewhat suffocating sterilization of Quinlan's voice, both vocally and compositionally.

Man, when this is firing on all cylinders, it is SO SO good. The album does kind of start to drag though, and as incredible and unique as her voice is, she can be a bit grating at times, especially with how verbose she can be with her lyrics. All in all though, I am very impressed with this album and I am incredibly excited to see what she does next, both with Hop Along and as a solo artist!

Cute Regina Spektor sound here. Starts strong and then peters out. Nothing wrong with this album - just not much to it.

Not bad, but dull. There's just not much goin' on here, as the songs are forgettable apart from the rawer cuts (Went to LA, Lean). Makes me wanna jam Hop Along hard, and it also makes me realize how well Frances fits within the band, with the playful guitar playing and the dynamics. This doesn't work so well.
