Mirage is at this point in the Meat Puppets' career, their most outright psychedelic record yet. Up On the Sun saw them take a mellower, country-esque approach to their songwriting that was present on II, but it left out some of the psychedelia that was present on II. Luckily, Mirage brings the psychedelia right back in with trippier melodies, some more layers of instrumentation, and more production. It's certainly nice to see them evolve into something this unique, relaxing psychedelic alternative rock. Overall, basically what would happen if R.E.M. played psychedelic rock. Also, the last track reminded me of Husker Du a bit.
