3.8 excellent | Erwann S. STAFF | December 22nd 19 | Violin-led death doom metal, and man aren't these violinz gorgeous. A violin truly is a good idea here as it is mostly displayed during calmer and more atmospheric passages. The heavy parts per se, even though well-executed and bringing the riffz, pale in comparison with these violin-driven sections: it becomes quite easy to divide the record into three distinctive parts: the ones with the Mozart stuff (very solid), the ones with beauty clean riffs but no more Wolfgang (slayz m/), and the br00tal ones whose sole purpose is to pound you (good but eh, heard it all before). This is mere nitpicking though, as the album flows extremely well and has a clear distinctive edge over other death doom bands (spoiler: the edge is the violin). An enjoyable record, headbang guaranteed.

3.0 good | Gene Gol-Jonsson CONTRIBUTOR | January 18th 22 | The gutteral vocals do not match the beautiful string-based instrumental passages at all. It then causes the album to drag and repeat, often becoming laborious to listen.

4.0 excellent | Chino smoking it up! | December 20th 19 | ..awesome album!!!!!!! cutting violins on Transfiguration is something I never "saw" in music: "False Confessions is an uncommonly good heavy record. Few bands have been able to take death metal and doom to such deliriously weird places while still retaining that beautiful and affecting meditative experience. Weeping Sores, however, do it expertly."

4.5 superb | DarkNoctus | September 19th 19 | good god this is addicting. riffs for days, beautifully produced, flawlessly performed, wonderfully layered violins with harmonies to die for with a surprising amount of bite when the death metal sections come in adding such a great contrast. this release really stands out and the runtime absolutely flies by - i've been listening to it on repeat since i snagged it. do not pass this one up. death/doom perfection.

4.0 excellent | Avarice climbing on a vertebral ladder. | September 19th 19 | Incredibly good album. A fantastic mix of disjointed and angular (but still calculated) death riffs and the plodding, earthly riffs of doom. Add in vocals that work perfectly with the mix, and a heavy dose of depressing and melodic sounds atop mournful string and violin work and this one becomes one tasty soup of beautiful, brutal agony.

4.5 superb | Brandon Scott EMERITUS | September 13th 19 | The album cover and review I read earlier (which is on Invisible Oranges and written by Langdon Hickman who is
one of my favorite metal reviewers) convinced me to check this out and I?m so glad I did. It has a gothic feel in a
Peaceville Three kind of way, but still has moments where it bares its teeth. The pacing is really compelling, and
doesn’t really ascribe to the usual death/doom paradigm as far as its division of faster/slower segments. My
favorite part is definitely the violin, performed by Gina Eygenhuysen of Tchornoborg. It gives the already
impressive atmosphere even more depth, doesn?t detract from the metallic instrumentation, and offers some
gorgeous melodies in its own right. Overall this is just really solid, and feels fresh while still providing all the
familiar thrills of extreme music.
