| 3.9 excellent | Erwann S. EMERITUS | September 26th 23 | Despite its 77 mins length, The Return isn't too long. That's because Sampa's blend of soul and hip-hop (and sick guitar licks)features both immaculate production and engaging songwriting, with enough social commentaries here and there to guarantee the Lauryn Hill comparisons.

| 3.0 good | ellagos | November 12th 19 | At its best, this record has some of the most soulful Hip-Hop you'll hear all year and is defiant in its implementation of traditionally black styles. Unfortunately, at over 70 minutes long the moments of greatness are lost among the more laborious tracks here.

| 3.5 great | Doublez38 | September 14th 19 | This first official album is worth listening to. We already knew that Sampa was talented, but now we discover that she is also ambitious. It reminds a little of Little Simz in the interpretation and also of Chicago's Rap-Soul scene, but Sampa has a rich culture. Obviously the album is very long (almost 80min), moreover some tracks are so rich in elements that this density stifles a little the essential, and so it would have deserved a little cleaning, however I think it had a lot to offer us. In the other direction, the tracks often seem free and give way to celebration, how if the instrumental would never stop
