| 2.5 average | sokorny | May 5th 26 | Admittedly black metal is not really my jam, however I had to give this album a listen because of the themes explored. The band are Gadigal people (Australian Aboriginals based in the Sydney region) and their lyrics are anti-colonialism and fighting back for the rights of Aboriginal people. Not being Aboriginal myself I find it hard to relate to the "war" cries in some of the songs, and I generally favour reconcilliation over war in all circumstances (but if I walked a day in their shoes I may feel differently).rFrom a music point of view Thronebreaker Zero resonated the best with me, the chorus had some melody and good rhythm to it, making it the stand out track for me.rLyrically Black Gaze came across the most poetic and poignant to me, especially the repetitive chorus chant.
